Centennial Hall at ETSU
S. B. White Company was selected to install the HVAC systems for the brand new Main Campus Apartment Building on the campus of East Tennessee State University. It is a six story building with 214 residential style apartments for a total of 405 beds in approximately 144,000 square feet. The project was designed by a joint venture between Fisher & Associates and Ken Ross Architects, Inc. The construction manager for the State of Tennessee for this project is Rentenbach Constructors Incorporated. The mechanical system is a four pipe heating hot water and chill water system with fan coil units in each apartment. The heating hot water is created using the campus wide steam distribution system with a pressure reducing station and heat exchanger. The chill water piping is connected to the system on campus underground using pre-insulated Rovanco pipe. The building has four roof mounted Aaon fresh air units with ductwork to each apartment to handle the fresh air requirements and a Johnson Control building control system tied into the main campus network. The subcontract for the HvAC portion of the project is for over $3 million. The aggressive schedule for completion is about 14 months in order to get the facility opened in time for Fall Semester 2009.
