S. B. White Company was selected to construct the new Welcome Center on Interstate 26. It is located on 65 acres at Exit 9 near Ernestville. It is a 4,374 square foot log cabin structure to match the others across the state. It includes restrooms, a vending area, storage areas, and offices with separate parking for trucks and cars. The site includes picnic tables with sheds, landscaping, grills, benches, dog walks, and viewing areas in addition to the actual buildings. A sewer wastewater pump station was installed with a sewer line all the way back to Erwin, TN. Also, a water booster station, storage tank, and water lines were installed all the way back to Erwin as well. Three phase electrical power were also brought to the site. The cost of the total project including utilities work was around 8.4 million. The designers for the project are Vaughn & Melton out of Greeneville, TN. S. B. White worked with J. E. Green Company to build the buildings and Summers Taylor, Inc. for the overall project.
