Featured Project:
First Baptist Kingsport
S. B. White was contracted by Johnson & Galyon, Inc. from Knoxville as the mechanical contractors for an exciting renovation and addition to one of the most historic and prominent churches in downtown Kingsport. This marks the first significant expansion project in over 40 years for the church and includes 16000 square feet of renovated space and 22,000 square feet of expansion space that includes a new 3500 square foot welcome center. The two separate buildings of the church were finally properly connected during this $6.1 million dollar project. In addition to the new entrance off Sullivan Street, the project provided additional classroom space for preschool, elementary and middle school age children as well as improvements to the existing sanctuary. The new additions are climate controlled by high efficiency Johnson Control rooftop units with hot gas reheat humidity controls. S. B. White has done many projects in the downtown Kingsport area, especially on Church Circle, and understands the issues with working on historic buildings in historic settings with little or no lay down space.
